Lemongrass, home to temperate and tropical regions and also known as citronella grass gives the Rooibos tea its distinctive refreshing taste of lemon. In 2006 a research team from the Ben Gurion University in Israel found that Lemongrass (cymbopogon citratus) caused apoptosis (programmed cell death) in cancer cells. A substantial amount of Lemongrass is blended into this mix for a nice lemony taste.
